OK, so it doesn’t feel like spring out there this weekend, 
but I know it’s spring because the Flicker has been 
hammering my metal chimney at 6 am!

o Volunteer Coordinator – We are getting 
a lot of people who want to volunteer with us. 
We need someone to keep a working list for us 
so we can be more effective

to donate money to us and 
we need help to organize projects.

o Estuary Awareness Day/Earth Day – 
volunteers to help us plan 
and implement an Estuary Awareness Day in April
o Clean up crews – If you want to help with

about 2-3 hours a month to put together.

2. BIRD NERDS, FRIENDS AND NERDS IN TRAINING
• MONTHLY ESTUARY BIRD COUNT - will be held 
on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. 
Please meet at the Howe Sound Inn and Brew Pub. 
There, we will organize ourselves
into four groups, to go out and cover the whole estuary. 
The count takes about four hours, 
so bring a small snack or something to drink. 
Dress for the weather, of course. 
At shortly after noon we will reconvene 
at the Brew Pub to bring in our results 
and to share lunch together ( lunch is optional). 
All levels of birders are welcome to join us.

• PIGEON GUILLEMOTS AT LONSDALE QUAY 
which is a great place to see Pigeon Guillemots and Pelagic 
Cormorants up close. and only a two minute walk 
from where I parked the car. 
For better resolution on the videos,

• OILED WILDLIFE FIRST RESPONDER TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Oiled Wildlife Society of BC will be holding 
an Oiled Wildlife First Responder Training Workshop in 2013. 
A date has not been chosen yet, but it will be after February.

• EVERGREEN IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS. Evergreen, 
a national charity working to connect cities 
and nature has a number of bird boxes to install
